CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Reviews Char Dham Road Project in Rudraprayag

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday inspected a bridge and tunnel project constructed in Rudraprayag under the Char Dham Road Project. He reviewed the project’s progress and said it would be formally inaugurated soon. During his visit, the Chief Minister also inspected Sangam Library under the district administration’s campaign, “Donate a Book, Plant a Tree of Knowledge.”

The project, constructed at an estimated cost of ₹156 crore, includes a 200-metre-long bridge over the Alaknanda River and a 900.30-metre-long tunnel. The total length of the project, including the bridge, tunnel and connecting roads, is approximately 1.18 kilometres. The infrastructure will directly connect Kedarnath National Highway (NH-107) with Badrinath National Highway (NH-07).

Trial-based traffic movement on the bridge-tunnel route began on Monday. Once regular traffic operations commence, pilgrims travelling to Kedarnath and Badrinath will no longer need to pass through Rudraprayag town. The new route is expected to ease traffic congestion in the town during the Char Dham Yatra, providing relief to both local residents and pilgrims.

The Chief Minister said that making the Char Dham Yatra smoother, safer and better organised remains a key priority of the state government. He added that improved road connectivity and the development of modern infrastructure would enhance facilities for devotees while boosting local businesses, tourism and employment opportunities.

During the visit, Dhami also reviewed slope protection and stabilisation works being carried out in landslide-prone areas along the Rudraprayag–Gaurikund National Highway. These measures aim to minimise landslide-related risks and make the pilgrimage route safer and more resilient.

The project is expected to play a significant role in improving traffic management in Rudraprayag and facilitating smoother movement for pilgrims visiting the revered Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines.
